I take the UPS call as short term, not great news for the stock, but long term great news for the technology and thus the stock.

Near term:
  • fewer packages in the UPS network
  • continuing to build out RFID sensing and use across the network, timing and final size a bit more uncertain

Long term:
  • they are fully committed to RFID and appeared very pleased with its performance
  • RFID is a critical piece in expanding new and newer opportunities in pharmacy (this could be big), B2B, enterprise-level shipping, inventory management, etc.
  • RFID gives them the needed visibility of the package for all sorts of use cases (cold chain pharmacy for example)

All in all, I think UPS is in a transition from the high volume low profit Amazon shipping to a broader customer base and RFID will provide the value and quality of service they need to offer.

Any ideas if Amazon or USPS will go to RFID tracking of every package?
