Techie -- You missed my point. It wasn't to line up CAP and DMT and measure their biceps but to encourage solid research. As you so kindly pointed out, I've posted my own faulty information. I regret it and, now, besides feeling chastened, I'm more skeptical than ever. I made the mistake of believing someone's word when I should have questioned it. Now when someone says, "X is true, therefore Y and Z are also true," I say, "Wait! Is X actually true?"

As for who will be the winner in Phase I, I couldn't say. You seem certain it will be CAP and before Kim Maxwell's announcement (and before my last conversation with Ron Carlini), I would have agreed. Now, I'm not so sure. (And, no, I won't report Amati's opinion on the DMT/CAP issue.)

Doesn't NT have DMT (from having teamed with AMTX at one point) as well as their QAM CAP-interoperable modem? And what does number of licensees tell us without knowing what sort of market each represents or at what phase of development they are? Just curious.

Regards, Pat
