I'm extrapolating demographic trends I've seen. Presently there are a number of metropolitan areas where if whites are not quite in the minority, it is very close, and where the Asian and Hispanic populations total at least 25 %. By the year 2030 these are predicted to be the national averages.

On the other hand, immigration levels are actually less now than at the turn of the 20'th century, but the direction seems clear.

With respect to Latin America, I actually consider it geopolitically really important to have good alliances with South and Central America going forward. We will undoubtedly be far closer to these countries than, say, China (which will be a major source of friction and headaches in this century, even though the Muslim States are the hot spot right now). We could wind up being closer to Latin America in our global interests than we will be to Europe, though I don't see us ever drifting very far away from Europe in our alliances and interests given the ethnic makeup of our countries origins and our past histories.
