Ok, I went back and re-read your post 34069 with the fresh new perspective of the more recent 34071. This time, applying a less literal translation, I "grok" that you mean that new software development has fallen into the niche category since it has been quite some time since anything possessing broad consumer appeal has been released. Please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.
But here's the other quote: The recent fact the Apple finally will make a Win IPod proves it can't make it on design alone. This very short statement stands falsetto as trying to link the "fact" of the iPod's release for Windows as proof related to some obscure connection concerning design and survivability. Or, does "can't make it on design alone" actually mean something else to you that I'm not reading into it?
After all, all I said, to which you were responding, was: Saying that Apple needs "a snappy, gotta-have product introduction every quarter" is not enough. If you want to define what Apple "needs" it has to be in completely realistic terms. Microsoft "needs" snappy new software releases a lot more often too, but saying so means nothing if it is beyond their or anyone's reach. And, I stand by that.
