"Its rather amazing they are that public with their comments."

Look at some of the comments that are made on this board. But, you know what? Their kids just want to be Americans. Aztlán is just like the blacks who mythologize Africa. It works for a while, but their kids find a different route.

I hear what you're saying but I don't think non Latinos should put up with this kind of rhetoric.

Because it is all mythology. Here is the the wikipedia entry for Aztlán.

Yes, I've heard of Aztlán; my Latino friends would bring it up from time to time. In fact, we had arguments over it. However, ten years ago, no Latino politician would have brought it up in public. Latinos in CA must feel more sure about their hold on the state. BTW one of the most outspoken on that video was a professor from TX. His comments were particularly onerous.

While mythology is very important for any movement, at some point it either has to produce or die. The Aztlán movement cannot produce much. All it means is dragging the areas mentioned down to Mexico's standards. And that means losing their kids. That gives them a narrow window.</I<>

That's what bothers me........in the short time I was in S. CA, I saw the area decline considerably........not just from Latinos but they had their role in the mess. What's most annoying is that the particular politicians pushing this myth of Aztlán are some of the most corrupt.

Which they are in the process of missing. It might not be true for SCal. I can't comment on that. But they lost it in this state some time ago.

S. CA is such a huge producer of wealth....not just movies but manufactured wealth......I guess if the situation worsens, there will be a strong outflow of industry and people.......more than there is now.
