I think you just nailed the one advantage I hadn't thought about. A dual boot machine would absolutely destroy the Wintel box makers as long as other x86 box makers couldn't run the MacOS. I would certainly buy one. Who wouldn't? (Unless Apple priced it into the stratosphere.) Apple would gain a huge amount of credibility with businesses who would love them because they could really standardize. Apple would gain large amounts of power over parts makers and software companies.

Apple tried to do this before, I forget the name of the project but I was really hoping for it. Could be amazing.
