Stan,

I don't have cookies turned off all together, so the sites that I use and trust work just fine with cookies. I have IE set to prompt me whether I want to accept a cookie from any new site. Then I can deny or accept for that time, and if I choose the always option, IE won't bother me again about that site.

IE keeps a list of sites I have chosen to block. It is easy to edit the list if I deny a cookie that later turns out I needed to accept.

It looks like some websites can get around Ad-Aware's algorithms. Pop-ups are getting through on some sites by opening as real web pages with normal browser windows. Black Knight has my King in check, so to speak.

I've been using Popup Manager that tc uses for about a week now. It only works for Internet Explorer. I've yet to get a popup. If you want to post a link to the site that generates a real web page window, I'll see if it foils Popup Manager. It might be interesting to test sites this way on the thread and see which popup blocker is currently most effective.
