And it is why I don't think this Azltan thing will have legs. Those Hispanics who have been here a few generations don't have that strong of a connection with Mexico, and are often appalled when they visit. It is easy to get used to law enforcement that isn't driven by bribes and kickbacks.

I'm afraid that's not true in CA......specifically LA. Art Torres, who is now the chairman of the Dem. party in CA, was a councilman when I lived in LA. He was as dirty as they come........most Latino politicians in LA are. Villaraigosa, the mayor of LA, was the only clean one when I lived there. That's why I worry that the Mexican culture will undermine the Anglo one.

In addition, you can't just look at the illegals who come here.........its the second generation, the Chicanos, that makes the problem much worse. Their parents were not legal and yet they are citizens.......they are caught between two worlds. They are the ones who go into gangs.......gangs that have connections with the gangs in Mexico and Central America. And then that legacy is passed down one generation to the next.
