Bob,

The NC also has quite a bit less of functionality than the "fat"
client (PC)....at least it does today. My point in all of this
is why is Oracle in the fray! Lets suggest that Sun (whom I saw
this morning) introduces a whole line of NC systems. If anyone
has a good chance of making the NC work...it would be the creators
of Java.

Java raises some important points, however....the management
and licensing of that product by other companies (including
Microsoft, Oracle, Netscape, etc) is much like UNIX. Each
vendor are going to put their special little spin to add value
for their own products. Soon we may see a serious fracturing
of Java resulting in porting problems seen by PC users today.

I digress....Oracle has the best RDBMS product available today.
Whether that continues into the future should be their focus.
Non-strategic distractions with tons of competition is really
not in Oracle's best interests.

I read from someone earlier that they didn't believe that Oracle
has put a lot of $$$ into this. I disagree. Oracle is due to
roll out a series of NC systems this week. Again, if they
hadn't put $$$ into this....how were these systems created?
Further, how will they compete?

Thanks, Kent.
