<<But why would there be such a large short on the impending good news?>> Could it be that the large short position has been built over time and that it can not quickly now exit w/o the reverse of a dump (i.e. large buying)? To buy back some large number like xxx thousand shares w/o perturbing the price would be a task, particularly with such low volume as we have been witnessing of late. I don't know if there is a large short position or not but if there is, they are sure SOL with the present volume. And I can't believe there is any reason for anybody to borrow shares right now unless something is binding.
