I think that people should put NT vs. UNIX into perspective here. I
agree that NT already outsells UNIX in terms of volume and will
probably outsell UNIX in terms of dollar amount soon. But do not
make the mistake that because NT outsells UNIX then all the enterprise
and technical computing will be done on NT. Let's remember NT beats
UNIX on price, but not performance. we should not automatically assume
that because NT beats UNIX in sell all companies will run their
database on NT. I still believe that most companies that need
transaction heavy database will still run the database on UNIX.
So NT will hurt direct competitor like SUNW, SGI. But it will not
hurt Oracle as much as those companies. Besides Oracle on NT is still
way better than sql*server.

I read in an article earlier that MSFT keeps raising the price on NT
with every release. People are wondering how much a price/performance
advantage will NT have when it becomes really stable. Same can be
said about sql*server. Even MSFT needs to recoup the money they pour
into NT and sql*server. They are in those market to make a buck also.

About 40% return in the long run for Oracle? hey, I will settle with
30-35% for the next 3-4 years.
