A doc in private practice] If you spend 70 percent of your time fighting insurance company's, fighting the state, fighting the feds, trying to collect from patients who can't or won't pay you. IT WEARS ON YOU. Day after day it wears you down. You lose perspective. You stop thinking about the patient and what the patient needs. And instead you think about where you'r going to get the money to make payroll. If your business just took a 70 percent hit in California because Workers' comp won't pay you and all the TWISTED convoluted system of private insurers. Fighting all that. It just wears on you. You can't be a good doctor when your fighting all that. NEVERMIND. Goodnight.

First, let me say that CA is crazy.....it does not represent what's going on in the rest of the country except in a very tangential way. Seriously, I was very surprised when I left there to see how out of step it is with other states. Secondly, every person in business has to deal with someone who frustrates them. Most doctors have on their staffs a person who deals with insurance and gov't issues. Thirdly, I just don't know of a lot of doctors who have gone under. If you do, let me know what the statistics are.
