Though I was just having some fun Saturday a.m.,
I went back and took a look at the previous split dates.
(Thank You Vitesse!)

They have never split earlier than a full 12 months:

3:2 split - 3/3/97
2:1 split - 5/27/98
2:1 split - 10/21/99

Though the share price is currently high, they may want to ensure that it STAYS up prior to doing the next split.
They could also want to used the lofty share price to buy other companies for stock.

On the other hand, the PE (and thus price) has risen substantially and the opportunity is at hand to split and still remain near or above $50 (price). It is correct that we are trading above the 'traditional' split price. I believe they were about $50 in '98 at the time of that split.

Always interesting. <g>
