I agree with you that the growth of ORCL and all of the other companies involved in the "info explosion" will slow down at some point. But when? Not soon enough, in my opinion, that I worry about my investment in ORCL.

The arguement might be made that most of the business information that should be contained within databases so that it can be accessed electronically is already contained in databases, and therefor the market is not as large as it was 10 years ago. At least this is the case for the information that we think "should" be so contained at this point in time, and in those parts of the world where it matters.

But I can see lots of new categories of "stuff" that will need to be stored in digital format in coming years: music that you buy straight off the web, video, considerably more online shopping opportunities, continually upgraded means of accessing the information that is already stored, and a majority of the world that has not really even started to get onboard.

So the pond, as you call it, will get bigger.
