On a trip last week (first in a while) I had thoughts of two Zen disruptive products in close proximity (not the Zen versions yet, however): masks handed out on the plane and the de-icing going on out the window. The second one spawned a question:
- is the Zen de-icing technology a temporary spray (as in the current glycol-based "before-flight" applications), or is it more like a paint that is applied semi-permanently to the aircraft wings and fuselage? Anyone know?

If the Zen de-icing product is the latter, a coating applied to the aircraft that lasts weeks or months etc, the implications are many: labour savings, airline schedule-saving (no need to apply just before flight during inclement conditions & delay take-offs etc), and much reduced operating costs of the whole de-icing systems used now. Not to mention aviation safety, of course.
