From H.L. Mencken: "Love is the illusion that one woman is different from another."
I believe Mr. Mencken reserved your above reference to women and then the following to whatever other object, subject of one's love, including, (but not limited to), women. One could include as you suggest, stocks:
"Love is the triumph of imagination over intelligence."
Then, in reflecting his despise of government and democracy in general he expressed the following in reference to relationships between men and women.
"Adultery is the application of democracy to love."
and about democracy:
Government under democracy is thus government by orgy, almost by orgasm.
I admire Mr. Mencken, as I do Ms. Rand, I feel as if I could have written the same, only I have not, this easily proves that there are brighter minds than mine.
Having said that, this one is my original:
Reform Schools is where politicians, do-gooders of the world, messiahs, theologians, leaders, and other sundry demagogues, get their finishing [graduate] education.
