Things have changed since then.

As Richard Haass said: "the last 6 or 7 years have been pretty peaceful", and I can see the gains in education and freedom for the women and children.

When the facts change I change my mind.

I now believe staying there would have greatly led to progress in humanity in that backward part of the world, and we needed to protect what we sowed i.e. a newly educated generation, and especially the children and women, also to better protect us and the world from these mindless 13th century thugs.

These kids have not grown up in the harsh culture of the Taliban and will suffer greatly now that they have been thrown back in to it.

I cry for the women and children and parents who cannot protect them.

Watch how brutal things are about to get and that is going to hurt we dems.
