Manugistics sees second-quarter loss By Deborah Adamson, CBS.MarketWatch.com Last Update: 6:02 PM ET Sept. 5, 2001
ROCKVILLE, Md. (CBS.MW) -- Manugistics Group disclosed Wednesday that it expects to report a loss for the second quarter as the economic downturn made clients more cautious about spending.
The supply-chain management software company (MANU: news, chart, profile) expects to post a loss, before special items, of 14 cents to 16 cents, compared with the 3 cent profit forecast by analysts polled by Thomson Financial/First Call.
Revenue should come in the range of $68 million to $70 million for the quarter, down from the $90.55 million analysts expected.
The company blamed general soft market conditions and economic uncertainty that has made customers more cautious about spending.
Manugistics' second-quarter earnings report will be released on Oct. 3.
Shares of Rockville, Md.-based Manugistics dived 33 percent to $7.34 in after-hour trading. During the regular session, the stock was down 5.3 percent to $10.96.
