'Video When and Where You Want It'

LAS VEGAS, Jan. 9 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- ESS Technology (Nasdaq: ESST - News) today unveiled its new products for digital home entertainment designed for consumer convenience.
Highlights of the new products to be demonstrated include:

-- Digital Video Recorder (DVR): ESS's DVR product enables a consumer

simultaneously viewing a DVD movie. ESS silicon and software
products make this consumer device easy-to-use, feature-rich, and
cost-effective.
-- DVD Recorder: This multi-function platform allows the consumer to
replace their current VCR while adding new functions. With this
platform, the consumer can archive their existing VHS tapes to high
density DVD disks and expand their media library to include new
content from broadcast video, digital cameras, camcorders, and more.
-- Digital Media Processor (DMP): This DMP technology allows the
consumer to view video or photos from flash memory cards such as
Compact Flash, Smart Media, MMC, Secure Digital, and Memory Stick
directly on their television or other consumer products. This new
ESS product supports MP3 audio, JPEG photos, MPEG-1, and MPEG-4 ASF
video formats. With consumer platforms based on this technology,
multimedia content stored on memory cards can now be viewed anytime,
anywhere.
-- Wireless Media Player: ESS wireless media players play digital
multimedia content that has been distributed via a wireless LAN.
These new ESS platforms will allow digital audio, video, and JPEG
photos stored on a home media server to be enjoyed anywhere within
the home.
