Are system isn't really so unique. To the extent its different its a matter of degree. Of the rich countries the UK's system might be more unique. At least most of the other countries don't set up health care systems for the general population, usually setting up health insurance systems. You could define categories so as to include the US in one group and everyone else in another, but than you just defining the categories to suit your argument.

The results are similar... many rate the European results better.

Those ratings are questionable, and more to the point irrelevant to the point raised. Medical care isn't a simple commodity. Even bread can be very different (some bread costs a lot more than other bread, and the more expensive bread isn't always clearly better), but health care is much more complex than bread. You aren't talking about getting the same thing for twice the price, your getting something different. Whether or not different is better is something that can be debated, but either way its not the same.
