And they certainly didn't hesitate to recall them when accelerated usage tests showed potential problems. THAT'S conservative to me.

It seems like a pretty simple case to me. Iomega has patents on several aspects of the Zip and Jaz. SyQuest copied those patented designs. A company would be foolish NOT to defend their intellectual property. I agree that the Jet trademark might be frivolous (although certainly not meritless), but the patent infringements are plain and clear.
