The higher oil prices (and resulting gas prices) are a result of many factors.

One of the MAIN ones is the depreciating dollar. If the dollar were still at the same level in regard to other currencies as it was in 2000, oil would be around $80 bucks a barrel and gas would be around $2.50.

It was the Bush Administration's weak dollar policy that let the USD drop so dramatically.

I don't really pay much attention to the Democratic leadership in Congress. I thought they were saying that we were just referees in a "civil war" over there, and I think that would have been pretty much accurate at one time.
