well scott , to my mind the claim the Jesus is the only Son of God , and the rest ,
It is far too similar to the later claim of Islam and Mohammed , that Mohammed is the Last Prophet.
Do you see a little pattern forming here? My instincts tell me this is too coincidental , and I know how much the early church supressed other doctrines , and the latest few centuries of apologetics have done nothing but turn me off . Always at war with others and with themselves . This should be obvious to you that there is something desperately missing.
There is also this tremendous ego and pride in the Middle Eastern Religions (yours) , that assume they are the most "Holy" and the only ones having direct connection to God , but I reject this . That is due to their tribal arrogance disguised as "humility , overwhelming stubborness and self-absorbtion , Jhiads and Crusades , which you also may inherit or be exposed too, here today. It is a much greater Universe out there than all of Islam and Christianity put together .
There is always some psychological relief from "confessing" and asking for forgiveness and seeking to live more transparently and authentically in the world . The Church knew this and made it a central part of it's theme, but it no more owns the rights to this field of truth than any other.
If anyone in this world can show me the uniqueness of anything that Jesus said , that wasn't already said before him , then I would convert tomorrow. But only a few parables and stories of Miracles borrowed from other religions , not enough for me . Interesting though.
To be a "good" Hindu , one is already a good Christian , and the same goes for Buddhists as well. There is nothing unique to Christianity , except the intentionall literal interpretation only in Christianity & Islam do you find such rivalry and easy condemnation of each other and everything else....this is not seen in the eastern tradition.
If Jesus' church could be so wrong for so many Centuries , then I must conclude that he himself was imperfect as well. He certainly did his fair share of condemning , and that is very worriesome , coming form a "Son of God ".But this does not impend any "end of the world " or mean man does not progress . Certainly the Gospel and the Koran have both been pretty well distributed and preached around the world , so where is their Kingdoms? Just playing make-believe about the "afterlife" is not enough.
This goes for Mohammed as well...both religions need plenty of help, that's where we come into play.
