MOST Americans are just trying to make a living and raise their families.

They aren't students of government. If their Congressman or Senator brings in enough "pork" to save the local defense plant (whether that's a wise thing for the country or not), they're happy about it because it means that they will keep their job.

In the U.S. most people don't even care about voting UNTIL their own lives are affected.
