* The ads need to mention the word DIGITAL AS OFTEN AS POSSIBLE. In the eyes of consumers, DIGITAL is synonymous with "STATE-OF-THE-ART"
TECHNOLOGY!!!!!

Digital is GSM****TDMA***E-TDMA*** N-CDMA*** B-CDMA. I look at the word digital as using the word basketball. Now if you mention the Bulls everyone knows who you are talking about. There are other companys that hold patents in CDMA but QCOM has the most important ones. In certain agreements they make they must cross license so they can use the other companies piece of the puzzle. Yes QCOM and CDMA can be used in the same sentence and will be recognized by most because they pioneered the technology and should receive credit for that. A lot of people ,including me, thought it wouldn't work. Others will add to the improvements of CDMA as Lucent has. From what I have read they have the best switch on the market but royalties will roll to QCOM.

The next post from the engineer seems to point to the big guys such as Siemens and others making the big bucks off CDMA. I look at QCOM's chance is kind of like Mcdonalds was. He too chose to licenese or franchise but the small percentage of royalties he received added up to billions. The digital war is not over yet but when it is there will be winners and losers as in other markets. GSM vs CDMA----VHS vs Beta ----Mcdonalds vs Burger King and others have one thing in common. GSM,VHS and Mcdonald were first to market. Only time will tell . Good luck to all.
