I did some research on the Camafuca pipe a while back. It has yielded some significant grades and very valuable diamonds--much higher than SUF has sometimes indicated. There may be significant tonnage that will yield 1 cpt with carat values in excess of $200 U.S. per carat.

The trick will be to actually mine them in the current political climate in Angola. UNITA is not likely to pack up and go away in the near future. UNITA has been in the diamond mining business for a long time. They have cash, a capable armed force and military and political intelligence. UNITA does have defacto control of more than half of Angola including much of the diamond producing territory.

The initiatives of the Government of Angola have been almost totally ineffective in challenging UNITA militarily and they have virtually closed the door to negotiations and political settlement.

A little dated but interesting history and info on Angola.
