But once the votes were counted, the election appears to have strengthened the hand of the opposition and highlighted the weakness of the current power arrangement in an increasingly divided country. You understand.......letting the Israelis bomb the hell out of Lebanon was an example of tough love by Bush. It never dawned on them that it might strengthen the opposition. Stupid is as stupid does!
