in addition to what answers you've received, Patricia, i think you might like this handy little tool from steve gibson... FREE IP Agent

go here grc.com (if not a hyperlink then cut & paste the url) and download the free utility.

i keep the IPAgent icon on each desktop and use it to check my network connection.

you can then go back and click Test My Shields, which will produce your IP address.

if you ever run IPAgent and it isn't showing your router network address, then you know that the router is not working, or not configured properly.
