You were absolutely on the mark when you said, "He does not need to give the market a downward push with his off handed market statements. A FED Chairman should refrain from this. If he wants us to lose money, he should let us do it on our own".

Any attempt to either manage or manipulate the market is both counter productive and an artificial perturbation to a free market. Fortunately, his actions haven't changed anything so far, but I fear his attempts will encourage future FED Chairmen to try an improve in their manipulation. Mr. Greenspan, "Please let us lose or make money on our own".
