The bottom line is that we already have a lot of preventative care here in America. You might focus only on the uninsured, but hey, I've always said that universal health care will succeed in drastically reducing that number. But who's going to pay?

If we have a lot of preventative care, why are Americans so unhealthy relative to other first world countries?

And if you really want to talk about "preventative care," how about the fact that more Americans are overweight these days? Life expectancies are now declining thanks in part to unhealthy lifestyles. Diet, exercise, and cutting smoking are the best methods of "preventative care" we have.

An unwillingness to take care of one's heatlh and body usually suggests self esteem and/or depression/unhappiness. So long as people feel poorly about themselves or are depressed they are unlikely to take steps to improve their well being. So I think there is an important question in all of this......why are people so unhappy in the US?
