re: equipment re-use

You have talked about achieving equipment re-use by using previous-generation fabs for secondary products

But I am under the impression that Intel is also working
on re-use of equipment from previous generation in next-generation
products.

This can be done because often only critical (fine-line) process
have to be done with leading-edge equipment. Other less
demanding process steps could presumably be done with older
equipment. Typical example here is steppers -- you don't
need 0.25um lithography for the last metal layer after all.

Either way it is a Good Thing for Intel. But pushing equipment
along the leading edge is better because that of course is where
more product and profitability lies.
