Re: Obama Voters Missed Joke

Andrea Mitchell and the New Yorker may be the ones who don't understand satire. "In satire, human or individual vices, follies, abuses, or shortcomings are held up to censure by means of ridicule, derision, burlesque, irony, or other methods, ideally with the intent to bring about improvement." (Wikipedia)

In other words, that behavior by the Obama's would have to be true if the New Yorker cover were to be considered satire. If the satire was about people's wacky beliefs about the Obamas instead, then I don't see the cleverness because at least their supporters don't see them that way. It's a stretch even for elite Manhattanites who like to think that the anti-Obama gang are somewhat bigoted. In any event, I'm glad the cover blew up in their faces.
