Sears NEW YORK (Dow Jones)--All sorts of malevolent forces are associated with expiration Friday. But traders who serendipitiously held onto calls of certain technology companies get to go home with tidy profits instead of watching their contracts expire worthless. Ascend Communications October 35 calls, for example, are up 400%, or 1/4 at 5/16 on volume of 9,643 contract, compared with open interest of 23,596. The stock is up 1 1/8 at 34 3/4 on no news.
