Several gas-directed rig count records fell by the wayside on Friday, which deserve to get some mention:

** Highest rig count in any one week, 1069 (beats 1068 in a week of July '01)

** Most consecutive weeks with > 1,000 gas rigs going, 16 (beats 15, May - July '01).

The rigs that have been coming on in the past few weeks will likely not turn into producing wells until the beginning of heating season.
