Interestingly, I kinda have an idea. I dated a guy in high school whose parents were very Born-Again types. They believed that the Bible was the literal Word of God, I mean, the King James Bible, of course. Not any of the other versions. LOL!
I have mentioned the father before, he was a petroleum engineer for what was then Esso, now Exxon, I know he was head of the department at one time or another, I am sure he is dead now. He believed that the Devil had laid the fossil record to trick mankind into doubting the Word of God, but he studied it, nonetheless, so he was very good at what he did.
They didn't home school their children. The son was a little wild by Born Again standards, I know he is now married and living in Utah and has a Ph.D. in computer programming and teaches at a college. The daughter is the one I was thinking of, I remember her getting bad grades because she insisted on writing essays and answering tests according to her religion, which was not very acceptable in light of the fact that she was a philosophy major. Wonder whatever happened to her?
All extremely bright people, by the way. |
