Sky says its research shows that people are four times more likely to subscribe if installation is free. The ploy is also meant to erase the competitive edge that Britain's new digital-terrestrial-TV services will have over Sky, because only an antenna is needed to receive the DTT signals. Sky also set its digital-equipment prices, saying that new customers will pay about $330 for digital equipment, and existing analog customers will pay about $265. - 7/30/98
