The chatter about installing a natural gas electric generator system here usually includes "I never have to use it."

I suggest you change your mind. If weather is predictable at all, it looks like we are heading into a series of cold winters. Happens every time the Sunspots drop like they have the last few years.

All I face here near the equator is a drop from 80/70 to 75/65. Just have to put on a T-Shirt. But if I lived on the mainland in climate that got cold in the winter, I would install a generator.

Wonder how to handle natural gas pricing in a perfect world? Regulate the delivery system and give them a fixed return. Allow the customers to decide annually which gas wholesaler they want to pay and have the delivery system bill and collect from the customer and pay the wholesaler.

Worried about the wholesales conspiring? There is always one SOB who will cut price. Got only one wholesaler? The threat of another one hooking up will keep him in check.

In any case, this will guarantee you the lowest possible price that lets the companies make a profit.
