Linda & All ***OT but possibly interesting investment idea***

On Tuesday of this week, Texas voters finally passed a constitutional amendment allowing home equity loans. It was the only state in the U.S. which didn't allow them. The estimated untapped home equity in TX is $100 billion. The gold rush is on for the banks and credit companies, for sure. I think that certain banks and lending institutions will make a mint in this market which may not yet be factored into their earning estimates.

FYI, the biggest players ought to be (in no particular order): 1) NationsBank (NB), 2) BANK ONE, 3) Wells Fargo, 4) Bank of America, 5) the Associates, 6) Beneficial Finance Co. 7) Chase Manhattan (via Texas Commerce Bank) and there are others.

The loans are going to start being made in January, so the results should start showing up in their first quarter reports. I'm loading up on NB (probably the biggest player). It could be a play on a new story. NB has a call center already set up to take applications and I have heard on the local news that it is overwhelmed with calls.

Texans love to be in debt. There's probably a buck or two in it for investors.

Sorry for the interruption.
