811493 problems

Thanks. I missed your May 29 post somehow.

My PC problems are gone.

The solution to my Epson printer problem was the Russian web site posted earlier.

I cleaned out the ink tray, there is four screws to remove after disconnecting the power cord, the waste ink tray removes easily if the ink charging end is positioned off the end of a table. Care had to be taken not to break the plastic, and move three cable harnesses out of a clip. I used a #1 phillips scrwdriver with a 100mm shank, slightly magnetised to pick up the screws when they fall. Any kitchen magnet can be used to magnetise the screwdriver. The ink sodden felt was cleaned under the hot tap. There was LOTS of ink. A simple enough task though. About as difficult as changing an ink cartridge... been reading the hilarious mistakes made by some. Hey, it could easily be me too..

The author forgot to translate his problem solution. Whats Russian for

"Forget this.

I am stupid.

I left the label on!!!"

-ggg-

I still feel a little annoyed at Epson with there message here...

"Unknown error. Please shut down the printer and contact your local retailer or service center."?

when they know perfectly well it's a chip counter that locks up the printer. My kid had just finnished typing a report and was not able to print it out. I wonder how many people that has happened to?? I believe it the work of some corporate numbskulls at Epson. It would have much better to have had a message like..

"Your printer need scheduled maintenance within the next 20 pages of printing"

or something like that. I doubt if I will buy another Epson because of this. I want a machine that prints, not gives me deliberate and unnecessary grief. They can shove their "unkown problems" where it don't shine.
