<< These are very aggressive prices. As of today, Athlon probably brings in ASP of $150, but to maintain this pricing, 1.40 GHz will be needed at the beginning of May, and 1.46 or 1.33 at the beginning of June. >>

I'd be surprised if Athlon was maintaining an ASP of $125 personally. Maybe the DYI ones go for a bit more, but all the ones sold in Gateways, compaqs, and HPs are probably going for a lot less then what you can get on pricewatch.

<< After a fairly strong Q1 >>

Strong Q1 must be relative. I'm not sure what it's relative to, since I think we're going to underachieve compared to last year Q1. (even though we are no longer supporting the 0 margin k6 line).

<< AMD was switching from the older stepping to the AXIA stepping >>

I must have missed the buzzword somewhere. What's the AXIA stepping? I've heard a few people mention it. Is that just the 266mhz fsb chips, or is it a new stepping for the 200mhz fsb ones as well?

<< Of course there is another piece of the equation, and that is OEM sales. One way to explain all of this (in a negative way) would be a slowing demand from OEMs. >>

I'm not sure if OEMs are ordering less or not, but AMD has always done extremely well in the DYI market. It's the OEM and corporate markets we really need to crack. Even when the celeron was the DYI chip of choice I knew tons of guys who built K6-2s just because they were a little bit cheaper.
