That would be about right. The bottom of the LA market in the early 90s was 1993. By 1997, prices had begun to go up YoY, and by 2000, they were back to pre bust prices. And remember, during the early 90s, S. CA lost a million jobs. Things were much more dire than they are now.

BTW they had a brief mention of Miami on the news tonite. They showed an image of the Miami skyline. I was shocked at how many condo skyscrapers are under construction. Letting them go into the ground was as stupid a move as no money down mortgages. Apparently, lending standards were thrown right out the window. Its amazing that lenders could get that stupid. Here's a small sliver of what is under construction:



It will take years for Miami's housing prices to recover. In fact, that's where you should consider buying. You will get the royal treatment by lenders after they foreclose on all these buildings.

Stupid is as stupid does!
