MACD is a very good indicator. Put a moving average as a trigger line on it. Limiting yourself to trades only at the zero line will often get you in too late and out too late. You can even put bollinger bands on MACD to come up with trading decisions. I don't chart Amazon or I'd give an opinion on its chart. I wholeheartedly agree that buy and hold with tech stocks is a big mistake. Way too much volatility in the sector for that, with the exception of a few market leaders.
