Pace Micro Technology PLC said it is embarking on the co-operative integration of its digital Pay TV technology into integrated digital televisions, iDTV.

Pace Micro also announced its first agreement to integrate its technology, which supports BSkyB and BDB broadcast services, into wide screen television sets from Korean electronics giant LG.

The alliance plans to have BSkyB iDTVs in-store in time for this year's pre-Christmas sales period.

iDTVs feature the integration of the digital receiver/ decoder , an essential requirement to receive digital broadcast signals, into the television cabinet, rather than as a separate set-top box module.

Pace added that it is also in advanced negotiations with Toshiba for the rapid supply of BSkyB set-top Boxes and to develop BSkyB iDTVs for launch in the middle of 1999.

The LG/Pace widescreen iDTV will allow consumers to enjoy the enhanced television experience that digital television delivers. zax/
