"Why do you work so hard opposing cleaner air?" isn't relevant because I don't work hard opposing cleaner air.

As for "The air is polluted. Why is that not relevant to you?" - I think your mistaking "relevant" as something that means something more like "important". Air pollution is an issue of some importance, but that doesn't make either "Why do you work so hard opposing cleaner air?" or "The air is polluted." relevant to the temperature record that we were discussing.
