Alan, I have a copy of a journal (Exploration and Development Highlights)
by the Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada. March 96.
Re Ghana, an article references Ghana as the 'leader by virtue of its early
policy changes...(and) robust.' Refers to 'privatized giant Ashanti..
actively looking for mines.'
Re Indonesia, analysts from Yorkton Securities and GeoQuest Intl. rate it
as 'not suitable for juniors or seniors' in a list of 10 SE Asian countries.
Bre-X is a special case, less well-funded outfits could have a hard
time with the "high cost of exploration and development". Is it wrong to
be suspicious of little junior parasites buzzing around the lion's kill?
Aside from cost factors, the analysts give Indonesia top marks for
prospectivity, politics, laws, and land tenure.
IRL(vse) Indomin Resources got into Indonesia by buying a Jakarta
consultancy. Has $CAD 7 million to spend. Exploring 230 K hectares in
Putissibau (!?) and 127 K hectares in Busand North on Kalimantan.
Not too thinly traded. (Data from March 96 pub. on corp. profiles.)
imho.
