I liked the duck story.

A friend of mine and I had a black-bird encounter a few months back. I didn't know much about red wing blackbirds (as individuals), but they do have quite a social structure. We had the opportunity to look at one close up as an individual and watch it. It was accustomed to people and wasn't afraid. I didn't know how much control they had over their little red wing flags (epaulets). They have the ability to change them at will DURING FLIGHT.

This little social animal would always politely hid its epaulets when it approached us, whether flying or walking and then restore them as it left. The body posture and everything is very cool.

When you tune into this stuff, it opens a whole world (not just that of animals) to you that many people are oblivious to at a conscious level. Human unconscious behavior can be very amusing too. Go to some public place and watch people. They will pose and posture just like animals. If you interviewed them later, they'd be pretty unaware of all the physical cues they were sending and reacting to.
