That's one of this administrations actions that I'm totally behind. I'd rather the cuts came with simplification, a real reform rather than just cuts, but campaigning with the promise of tax increases is unlikely to get my vote.

Not a good thing, but that happens in just about every large new government program. Look at the early cost estimates for Medicare.

The lack of a single veto by Bush in 6 years.

Yes I really can't get that. Even with Republicans in control of congress, and thus both the executive and the legislature being controlled by the same party, you would think he would find some things to veto. Certainly there hasn't been a shortage of candidates.
