Your post happened to be the last one in the chain. Take mine as a longing for the "good old times" :)

Thread dynamics are interesting to observe. Ideally no moderation would be required. After all, democracy, "rule of the people", is axiomatically considered to be the best way to organize a set of people. Yet SI experience shows that "benevolent authoritarianism" leads to better results.
