Once you have installed this item, it cannot be removed.

I have Win XP home user. Looks as if the restore points went up in smoke when the updates were installed, although the PC seems to be working OK.

I switched off the restore facility earlier today to get rid of loads of data prior to backing up everything. The amount of data to be backed up can get out of hand quickly if both the restore facility is used on all drives, and some hard drive is also used to store image files. In future I will only have the XP drive with limited restore facility. I did have a restore point put in before I did the Win XP updates though, and that has now gone.

I agree it's best to wait a few days if you cannot independently back everything up from the restore facility. It really does seem a poor substitute to a proper backup facility.
