As I understand it...
... the "sensitive, polite, wonderful person, sense of humor, adult in some ways, large vocabulary, analytical and reasons well" comes as a result of OUR influence on them.
... the "needs to grow in the ability to communicate with his peers, over-reacts, too intense, impulsive, and stubborn" is because they're "at a certain age"
:-)
My biggest surprise years ago as a father was the BIG difference in each of our children's personalties. I guess I just never thought of that part of having a new young one.
The books say (and I take them all with a grain of salt and much prayer) that the sequence of birth has a lot to do with personalities. Has to do with how they have to act for attention, how our reaction changes slightly with each new one, etc. The first child is thought to be considerate, thoughtful, more mature than the others etc. etc. and we see that in our family.
Our first grandson sounds a lot like your son. He has all the traits you mention but it seems to be something he feels he'd rather keep in the background. His first reaction to "life" is to be aggressive, right, in control. But now at six (going of seven) he seems more willing to let his real personality show.
I like to think that as he learns that the Lord is more than a Sunday school story, ... is a REAL and ALIVE being, and loves us even if we're selfish, etc. etc. he seems to be more comfortable with "being nice, thoughtful of others, showing love, etc." |
